In Conjunction with Which Woolwich Stories and Emergency Exit Arts Geoffrey's Transition piece is a captivating series featuring painted and drawn portraits of individuals who share a connection to Woolwich with its long history of being a hub that connects London to the world through its military and colonial history and as a magnet through the same legacy and heritage for migrants from all over the world. From the Roman empire to recent years due to its busy burgeoning transport network, Geoffrey chose to use portraiture showcased on repurposed and upcycled doors. Via a series of open and public workshops the public who used public transport, commuters and residents alike were invited to relate their experiences of the changing face of Woolwich The piece explores the themes of movement in the urban environment, migration, unity and a sense of belonging. Regardless of the purpose of the journey or which mode of transport is used to arrive at our destination, we often arrive at a door. The door can be in our home, our place of work, our school or place of leisure we find there is ultimately a belonging to a place a space or communi ty
